still too britgh at the left side for that deep hard shadow. fade out the edges of the drop shadow and make the lower parts darker.

way too bright+ unnatural lighting
if you sketched a sphere on paper rather than using tools in photoshop with a mouse, you'd understand values better

take anything - baseball, tennis ball, etc. and point a lamp directly at one side of it
make sure the area is dark except for your workspace

Sure thing. I have a lamp with a flexible neck that would be perfect. It clamps onto desks.

do you have a scanner?
if so, draw it with pencil and paper first, then show us
then try with your mouse techniques lol

Yeah I'm going to. I can do it pretty well with lead and charcoal. I've taken art classes, it's just hard to get the angle to go the way I want it. I think it's because I used the circle tool and not a brush.
