of course, I spent probably a full hour looking through them right before I made this, I just opened the document and really didn't know what to do with all that space :x

Adding the sea beast definitely added to it, but I still don't get where you are in the picture and what direction you're looking at from where.

The O being you/me/whoever, x being the sea beast but not capital so it seems further.
The sand is behind you, and a massive boulder is sticking out of the sand, and the sun is shining from BEHIND the boulder which is whats causing the shadowing.

And yeah, but just look at the text. Try darkening it and adding a blueish tint to it, soften the border a bit and stick it along the edge of a shadow.
