Macs do have viruses. Many. Can't compare the amount with how many PC have them but they do as well. I would definitely get myself a mac if i had the money or if it was cheaper. Though i like my Lenovo a lot as well.
Basically any computer lasts for very long time if you clean it regularly and keep it updated. I have 2 years old Lenovo which i got 4 GB of RAM and new processor and it will still run very well for 500 bucks.
