new to dslr's yes, but know the basics really. taking epic photos with my nokia 4 megapixel phone, with the quality being shit at most

basically I want to spend my money on something else than drinking now that I got a good 800+€, and photography has always been somewhat too far out of my reach but still something I always wanted to do

been searching some prices now for a good 3 hours. I'm now leaning more towards D5000 + af-s dx 18-55 ii + tripod + some bag for it vs 618 € and AF 70-300mm F/4-5,6 Di LD MACRO 1:2 vs 159 €

Btw..I ish lurking up in here.

If you go to best buy you can get a package deal on all of that (my bf works there, its where I get everything) except for the tripod generally. But tbh I think Ive used my tripod all of 2 times since Ive gotten it.

What sort of photographs will you be aiming to take? Why do you want a macro lens, will you be taking closeups of flowers/insects or do you want it for portraiture? I have a D5000 myself and I like it a lot (18-55mm kit lens + 55-200mm zoom lens)

Hi Middy ^^

Basically I think I'll be shooting scenery and perfecting light/shadow (live in Finland so 4 seasons and lot's of different types of nature). But I want to be able to shoot good closeups. For me a self taken picture is way more worth than the money I'll spend on the equipment.

And as I edited my last post, the macro lens will prolly be a later buy.

Hows the kit lens btw?

Its great tbh, Im sort of amazed at some of the shots I manage to pull off without having a macro lens.

But I sill want to be able to get much better closeups so Ill be replacing that lens soon with the 105mm macro. Heres an example of one of the closeups Ive gotten with the kit lens though.

I think that is good enough for me for a while so I can save the macro for later.

Also now that you gave an example I'll have to do it too. do mind the nokia quality tho. Would've put my hat there instead but left it home and this was all I had on me

Went shopping and thougt I'd ask in finsub what to buy with some spare money. That is what I got as answers pretty much so I took a picture kinda like proof dunno.

Yes it was kinda random have to admit that.

e: But loved the lighting in that forest that day. That's really one of the reasons I want to learn to take good photos.
