I think a good way for me to actually get started was to make free sigs for people/low price sigs.
Why?
- they request the most Random shit.
Someone asked me to put like a bunch of world of Warcraft characters in a jeep having a blast. This challenged me and make me try to find good renders that would fit together as well as it challenges me to put it together.
Try making cuts without tools such as select tool. The best way to cut out stuff is the primitive way- the soft eraser and adding new lines for example hairs. So many times I’ve seen people here at JSP do cuts with the select tool and you see a bunch of background fuzz and random stuff in the image.
You need to learn about light and background to make your signatures cohesive, if a background has the sun in the right side, you can’t have a render that’s lit in the left side of the image without turning it.
Try and play with elements to cover up “mistakes” or spots in the image that cannot be fixed or make sense, example is adding fog, smoke, light, particles or fire. There are a bunch of images online. Search for “smoke PNG” and you will find valuable stuff.
Don’t forget to play with contrast and filters after your composition has been completed!
Lastly I’d like to say for being a beginner your first signature is not bad, my first ones looked like horseshit and I don’t even want to talk about it 😂😭
Hehe ...
Even I am debating on how to render the images that I like well, if with the background eraser, or with the damn pen, which is a difficult task. I have a slight idea of what you say in terms of the primitive way of doing it, but with the quick selection it is also complicated. I will have to do more research about it.
The truth is this is a beautiful world and it catches my attention, the signature some creations here on the forum are small works of art and that's cool.
Maybe in the end I will start learning in a serious way in some kind of academy or school.
