Is this a joke? I majored in GFX and I ball daily. Got mad stacks, foreign bitches who don't even draw begging for my stylus. I walk down the street and admire the envy of others. "He's a graphic designer, his life must be great," I hear.

Then I wake up and check my email. A message from a customer, "It looks great but could you make these 50 changes that go against every design principle you learned in school?"

Mind hooking me up with a link to your portfolio?

although you could probably find it, i don't want to directly give out my contact info, which is on there. it's also 3-4 years old now. i don't do freelance, so i don't regularly update it unless it's for a job interview.

well anything with art is kind of a luck thing. Professions based on talent usually are.

I have a friend thats doing graphic design as a major, and hes basically retarded in terms of what he has learned.
Like literally, theres people in the request section with more graphic design knowledge.
formal art schooling looks good on a resume' and helps you learn the programs, thats about it I think.

10000% this. I have been doing this for years just to prevent clients from making horrible decisions. As a graphic designer, 30-60% of any job is arguing with the client about how poor of taste they have and why your opinion, the opinion of someone who professionally provides graphics, is potentially more valid than some dude and his friend who like flames and tribal tatoos. Doesn't matter how professional the company/client is, they all want flashy nonsense that looks terrible, or horrible colors to used despite them clashing. The design struggle is real.
