followed this one a bit for the last sign
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw7XxYvGaPM

found the smudge technique in this one for the first
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM8Jg3oqSgo
and tried to do a similar background to this
http://i.imgur.com/LvrmbPY.jpg <- obviously not done by me

guess i ended up doing very similar backgrounds, but the coloring took me a lot longer in the last one, and is obviously not done the same way

I'm still learning how to smudge.
I wouldn't bother trying to recreate any of mine.

this is a bit better, however the smudge is too simple, you need multiple layers
also, those name boxes need to stop

if you really want more progress, keep working on one of the 2 works that you posted.
i personally like where the 2nd one is going.
starting a new one while your previous ones look unfinished won't really help you.

something that i learned is that you should go back to your work a day or 2 later to see if you have any new ideas to add to, or improve it.

if you need some inspiration, look at sane's gallery.

i love the detail in this one

i feel like i fuc*ed up the flow on the left side, might partly/completely redo that part

other than that, any tips to help me make a nice final product?

work from big brush to small on smudges.

you skipped medium sized and went straight to size 5 from what i see. also smooth out your rough lines theres too much squiggling.

restart the left side if you want to keep working on it

i would scrap it
