I have power washer. Taking a power washer to this boat could put a hole in it.
sometimes its better to use a little elbow grease.
The "mold" on the inside isnt mold, thats the really old paint flaking with algae stains... if thats what you were referring to
remember its fiberglass, not wood or metal.

what do you mean? like why is it wet? it was raining.. and its has drain holes in a the back.. its not a canoe :)

if a boat can't take a power washing it doesn't belong in the water ><
i've power washed plenty of things in my day and havent had a problem with even moldy wood

its like 44 years old
im restoring the boat, not trying to damage it more. and were talking about fiberglass, not wood.
Its a bad idea to power-wash direct fiberglass. On a boat as old as this one its just stupid. The pressure can and will pull the glass strands off.
You can repair fiberglass, the new resin will bond with the old fiberglass and make it like new - if done right. The strands will never break down, but the resin holding them will
Now once the carpet is inside I can power wash it all day, but as long as its bare fiberglass - its a nylon brush and a garden hose.

Self-service car washes are usually ok, they are inbetween a power washer and a garden hose. I've actually thought about that for getting the rest of the paint of the inside.
I'm working on the mechanical right now though. I rigged up a steering system today. I didnt want to fork out 150 bucks for a steering cable so I improvised.
I think it works better than the cable. Will take pics tomorrow.

oic, i'm surprised fiberglass wouldn't handle a pressure washer, especially if you directed the spray with the grain, stood back a bit, and had a high degree nossil...
iono tho it's a cool boat and it's nice to see u putting so much gusto into the project, can't wait to see you out and about on it! u better give us some dicaprio shots

ok so they don't make steering cables for this kind of boat anymore. i found a couple online but they cost a small fortune.. and theres no gurantee they will be long enough
so i fashioned a wire and pully system, and it works great :)

i have rubber hose casing on them now, but heres how they hook up.

so steering is done :)

and i pulled the deck completely off. unfortunately the deck measures 4'5" across. and plywood at lowes/homedepot only comes in 4ft x 8ft. so that kinda sucks.
The deck was soooo rotten. I pulled the fiberglass layer off first, and i dropped a hammer - it went completely through the plywood.

but the plus is this boat has no stringers! it has built in fiberglass deck mounts... which makes my job sooooooooooooooo much easier.

heres with all the debris up

I had to stop today because of the rain.. If the weathers ok ill start cutting the deck panels out and putting them in.

The cable improv looks good and if i saw the deck looking like that, i would've given up lol.

On a side note, you should remove that signature service link from your sig because it baits me every time.
