If they don't understand the why, tell them the effect it has upon
themI.E
- Can produce work twice as fast with the software over photoshop.
- Less chance of printing errors
- More flexibility in regards to how they use the exported document (a photoshop pdf page might be 2mb but the same thing with indesign would be 50k, and in a 50 page document that has severe implications when emailing to their clients)
most of the time they will come around.
This^ ..I can't imagine making a magazine or brochure without style sheets in InDesign. Having to adjust the size/font/color/spacing on every body of text separately every time there's a change seems terrible. Styles sheets are like CSS for print. Does the latest photoshop even have multi page layouts? I know illy has it now, but I still prefer InDesign for that.. Having to add bleed measurements inside the document always irritated me as well when certain people requested it, which also ties into white's point about file size. If everything is vector the file can be emailed, but when you're dealing with large jpegs you might have to deal with a filesharing website, cloud or CD mailing.

ericswanson_19 is the community web/logo design guru.
I know he uses more than photoshop for his work.
haha, thanks for the compliment, but I really am a humble designer. I know how to use the programs, but I'm not an amazing designer. I try to be sometimes.
