not bad
but try to stick with big blocks of colour m8
big forms of colour blended into shapes, that instantly tells us that what we're looking at is indeed an apple, without all the details.

intredasting

this is what I wanted to do, just imply things, but when I had it all blocked out without those little detail lines following the form, it looked super flat, especially while I was using a hard brush so the colors (even though I really only used like 2 hues with different values) werent blending and it just looked like a shitty vector kind of

And when I tried to use big brushes, the brush strokes flattened it out too.. maybe I should be blending with some other brush I am thinking?

ugh I am so confused

yea I know brushes dont make people good painters but I need to learn how to use my tools effectively

thats my hard brush settings, pen pressure on flow jitter and opacity jitter, and pen pressure on size jitter (minimum 70%) with airbrushing and smoothing. I have the same setup on my soft brush and flat brush, though I never use them. I downloaded those three brushes from some tutorial for first time digipainters, the guy reccomended I delete every brush in my thing and replace them with those three brushes but I just added the brushes instead.

went for it again after a little demo from TS helping me use color more effectively

not the same level of detail cus it took like 1/3 of the time as the other but the colors are waaaay better, i worked from picture this time, might try another from life though.

yeah these kinds of photos aren't the best references for landscapes; been edited a million times
but you pulled the main values off quite well
next up, try to work on your brushing techniques while you use references
