Must see pictures, also please list the steps you do things when using the lumber, this greatly interests me

I am at my brothers about 3 hours from my house and I won't be back until this weekend but I will put some pictures up for you of my salvaged wood. and what do you mean the steps? The steps to clean it up and reuse it?

I personally take the stuff power wash it, let it sun dry, sand the bejesus out of it and then put it through my electric planer and take a hairs width off of it. I mean SUPER SUPER small amount. Just enough to get the grain showing again. A lot of the old timers around here swear you should only use antique hand planers but eh I personally don't think the end product justifies spending that much more time on it. Whenever you buy reclaimed / salvaged wood make sure you never buy or take anything with paint on it. Chances are that shit is lead based. Doesn't matter how much you like the piece it isn't worth it brother. I personally usually use reclaimed lumber for the backs/insides of furniture or for outdoors pieces because half the time it just doesn't come out looking as beautiful as new wood. Whatever I make out of this lumber I just got I will post up.

great, ive been eyeing up some barn beams from a near by guy. kinda pricy, but they are large and nice looking.

What width planer should I shoot for.

I have a delta 13 inch portable planer and I love it. It does everything I could ask it to do and then some. Never needed a wider piece because rarely do I deal with anything larger than 2x12s

Almost identical to the one I own. Mines just seen a bit more abuse and is probably a year or two older. I was looking through the pictures on my phone and actually found one of my corner office haha, this is my desk that sits int he corner of my workshop in my polebarn.
