Just read some tuts and practice. It might take time but it does for everyone. Save your money and fg. Find some forums that you like and follow tuts on them and get cnc there.

If u want ONLY to make tags for jsp,...imo just read tuts and improve urself...

I would do this vs Fg , would take around 2 weeks,minimum: 1 hour/day

Although u would need to get ~15k fg first

lol photoshop wasn't around then....ROFL
20yrs experience.......ROFL

photoshop was first released in 1990 (so not quite 20 years commercial availability) and illustrator in 1986. its entirely possible a designer has a decade or more of experience on anyone frequenting these forums (especially given the demographic). im certain there are some talented people on here but im not sure id pay 70/hr to be taught by any of them.

so if he used photoshop 1.0 then he would have 19y of practice, which actually doesn't mean much more than a 5y practice for instance with photoshop, now does it? after few years of using adobe you either know it well or you don't. features in PS 1.0 and PS CSx are a colossal difference anyway.
20y of exp in GD is a different story.

5 years doesnt automatically make you a guru especially given the limited way that programs are often used.

that said if youve been using a program since its conception you almost certainly will have a much better idea of what tools there are, how and when to use them since youve used the program so extensively in so many different circumstances. sure going from ps1 to cs4 in a single bound is huge leap but thats not the same as experiencing the evolution of a program. i dont know about you but when i jump from one version of ps to another i dont get completely lost so obviosly things tend to carry over from version to version. i started using photoshop around version 6 or 7 and can say there is a fair amount of stuff from those versions still in the suites(so why not earlier versions than that?). im not trying to discount 20 years of design experience cause that is an invaluable benefit to any designer but knowing how to use yours tools effectively and efficiently is definitely important. a clever idea is nice but if your work flow and execution suck it may never come to fruition.

PS started to be useble at 7.0 and on. That counts for all the GFX artist's by 80%!

20y doesnt automatically make u a guru either. i've been using PS since 7.0 and I think it wouldnt give me much more knowledge of usage (if any) if I had used it since 1.0, srsly. that, no offense to anyone, gets no respect from me and i would never judge or value anyone's skills just by hearing wheather he/she knows Adobe progs for 5, 10, 20years or w/e

years mark time not experience so obviously its not all you should base stuff on...

that said if youve been using a program for that long you PROBABLY have a fairly intimate knowledge of its workings assuming youve actively been using the tools available to you.

heres an anecdote. i had to take an aptitude test for job placement some years back and they tested me on a microsoft design program id never used and i was able to pass with around a 70+%. i owe most of that to the fact that ive used design programs and microsoft products for so long and realize lots of things translate. if you genuinely think using programs for long periods of time doesnt net you any benefit over someone that just picked up the program than i think youre sadly mistaken.

Atm I'm still using 7.0 on my old PC, yes people did start doing GFX work (Signature/tag/wallpaper) ~Amateur-wise since that version.
And mostly the passed 5 years.
