hours?

you always say " 5 min on this sphere "

why dont you ask your sis to help you lol if shes college level and learning all these different shading techniques, then she for sure should be able to explain what your doing wrong?

I've spent like 2 hours on something at school, it looked like CRAP shading was all bad ETC, and my sis lives an hour away because it's the closest art college. So that won't happen.

just looking at your last shape picture ..... i dont even know what to say... looks like a 5 yr old scratched as hard as he could? why dont you just do small soft strokes.... its so fucking easy to blend with a pencil? press lighter or harder depending on value and just glide your pencil back n forth til there isnt any white..... press lighter if you want to fade into the white of the paper?

its not rocket science?

random question, but may i ask how old you are

I'm 17, And as ayduame once messaged me saying, cheap pencils wont blend worth a shit. So that could probably be it.

i use like a 5$ pencil set? i dont remember but it ranges form hb to 8b.... super cheap, works perfect

ive seen full blown portraits done with a mechanical?

yes there is some to the pencils depending on value range and how soft you get, but in reality its not always about the pencil.....

Ill tell you exactly how I shade. I hold the pencil at the very end , gently touching the paper making very light shades on the shading parts, in the darker parts i repeatedly go back over it until it's dark. I used an F pencil so..

/e i also use the very edge of my pencil

ehhhh not a fan of F

try a b, 2 ,3 or 4

is your pencil VERY sharp or sort of dull? try either and see if that helps.

to me it looks like your not putting the time into a study :S

your first eye seemed to be going on a good note, spend a lil more time in that direction

2nd eye seemed rush

shapes seemed thoughtless

some positive feedback; You have great contrast in these last few studies which is generally something beginners disregard.

Keep putting in time and you'll see results.
