I like what you're doing, only minor point is that the softbrushing over the neck/face seems a bit too strong.

Yeah, after I posted I changed the hue to red, and it looks a ton better.

I dont like it, it does'nt appeal in any way.
Smudge looks kind of basic, and the softbrush reali ruins it imo.
Dont like the colors either, try'n use some more interesting colors. (For the next piece), Just move on.

Better? I really love smudge, and would like to get good at it. :)

Merge more colors in the smudge, not just black.

Yeah the hue/saturation killed it, I had more colors at the bottom. I'll try and adjust it. I'm always bad with colors though, I always seem to do monotone, or to much of one thing.

What about taking the existing colors, and making a new layer over the black?

The smudge has a lot of potential imo, but the "render integration" needs work - Colors, lighting, overall blending.

DONT TOUCH THE RIGHT SIDE, that looks great, work on the left now

use the blending method from week one(i think?) tutorial or whichever one phil's tutorial was used in (soft black brush and changing the opacities, and then using colors pulled from the atmosphere of the tag, and using them on lighten? or w.e at low opacities

it will help blend it into the overall tag and make the smudging more part of the whole thing

I think you should flip the effects on the left side, so they are running upwards
little piece on the right side looks great.
