scientists agree that usually the simplest theory is the best one
a theory that says instead of history being what we think it is, reality actually somehow lead to the evolution of super intelligent robots enslaving us in a matrix world, would be a most unlikely and unuseful theory to believe
Who said anything about Robots?
(A.K.A There are many scenarios that could lead to the existential of a hypothetical simulated reality. Maybe the year is 3045 and you're a test subject in the beta stages of an experiment conducted by scientists on the potential of isolating a brain from a dying body and placing it into a simulated reality until a replacement body can be made)
Also, we're talking about the potential for a simulated reality, not the actual existence.
Finally, occam's razor is only a heuristic.
