i feel like smudging is one of the harder things to do really well and easy to do shittly, i suggest you avoid it unless you have a tablet to help you or something

I do have a tablet that needs some loving and i just want some mediocre smudge skills just to help flesh out my bg's and little details.

i just feel like making smudge that isn't beginner crap takes a strong sense of design and you are so chaotic right now i hope you can pull it off settling for mediocre smudge

Yeah this is why i put off trying to seriously smudge, but i feel ill be able to smudge ok as long as i get enough practice

It looks like a big ol' bottle of mustard exploded on his face. Not trying to be rude, but that's really what I think of when I look at this. The way the smudge is dripping from his face and hair....meh. I can almost see what you were trying to do with the concept but the colors and the execution fall short for me.

Was going to tbh. LOL. Near the end was just me dicking around.



This is my 2nd practice round.

I'm also using anubis's stuff for reference for these smudge practices.

If you are going to try to smudge, make sure to put A LOT of thought into the beginning layers, because they are the most important. Sure the later layers help put detail in and look nice. But if your first few layers of smudging aren't really nice, it won't turn out well
