If you haven't already, check out CHurley's post and read up on some of the anatomy books:

Read what they wrote, apply it to your life, and try to copy their studies as closely as possible. I know that a lot of people will often suggest to study these books, but it's for a good reason - it works. If you need to pull out a ruler to measure the studies in order to better understand the proportions, then do it (I did when I first began drawing). Start with the basic forms and try to get your structure fairly accurate. After you understand that, then you can try to focus more on the details. Most importantly, keep practicing!
