My frist attempt on still life and it sucks, I put a hour into it. Most of the time I was trying to color on the right layer because I kept selecting the wrong layer, or I was trying to put the layers in the right order. Anyway I am definitely going to try finish this tomorrow or if someone suggests not to, I wont. Does anyone know how to put those like little specs on the oranges, and yes my colors are off. I started off doing this because I wanted to practice drawing then I figured I would color it and so on.
this is actually great progress, keep trying to push it further tmrw until you cant see anything more to do
and with painting a still life like this, i really wouldnt worry too much about layers, you could literally do it all on one layer just as easily, at this point in your progression only use layers if you feel they are helping you. You can learn to paint just fine on one layer and then later on learn how to utilize layers to your advantage when you got a better handle on the basics
dont worry about the pores (specs) its just a texture, if the forms and colors are correct, it will look fine without the texture. Also try to use hard brush more and expiriment with blending in hard brush, too much soft brush makes things look shitty
