Okay tried it with out puting the picture under, and it took about twice as long (28mins).
But I must admit, it is harder but I like the challenge.
I tried to do a apple instead of a banana but surprisingly a apple is way harder.

Much better, next time dont do that thing where you wand select the banana and paint on the selection shape. Painting on a selection is fine as long as you made the shape yourself and didnt trace it from your reference.

you should try an apple though because it forces you to mix colors that are not analogous (like yellow and green) but instead compliments (red and green) which are far more difficult to mix. I like that you keep trying over and over, but spend more than 30 mins on your next one, if you feel like your done and dont know what to do, zoom in on your reference, theres endless details there i promise

Thanks, I think i want to try another fruit before I do a apple, maybe a watermelon. But i didnt do the wand this time i used pen tool cause the wand doesnt work some times.
But I get what you mean by not tracing the shape, I will try to not do that next time.
Thanks

when i look at the top and bottom of the banana i see a maroon colour. when i look at yours i see a green. Spend Hours on it. When i started like you i was spending 2-3 hours on my fruit drawings.
Take a few breaks in-between. Your doing well though, Keep it up.

it does look better but its still mostly wrong, might as well not waste your time doing pointless busy work trying to render out the hair

go to that website, open up "figure drawing for all its worth" and start trying to learn the structure of the face, then come back to portraits once you have a better feel for it. When you copy diagrams from the book, make sure you copy them precisely, take a ruler and measure proportions and angles if you have to, this will help you learn and in no way is "cheating"

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking with the hair.. I'll check the link out, and thanks for the advice.

well its better, but still quite a ways to go.
I suggest moving onto something besides portraits, something a little less demanding.
