I just went to reinstall my copy of CS3 on my new computer and found out they no longer support licensing for CS3... so it wouldn't let me start up the program at all. I had to request a new software key for CS3 suite and even though I only had the student extended version of CS3 photoshop before, the new key they gave me allowed access to all of the programs- including illustrator, dreamweaver, flash, etc. So if you happen to have an older key for CS3, that might be a way to get illustrator for free.
