Story time!
As some of you know, I was gone for the past week, working on Metaldays.
It is a pretty good gig, lot of hours, shitty pay but at least you keep the money flowing your way.
I was working as a steward, which means I by no means have the same authority as security since you need training and a license and that costs money. I cannot physically restrain, push a visitor, unless they attack me and I have to defend myself, but our jackets are almost identical to the ones worn by said security, all I CAN do is physically body block with my body and tell people they are not allowed to do things. Since I am a suckup, and wanted extra hours and good cred with the bosses, I was bringing water to my co-workers and substituted them for breaks since one of our major directives is you are not allowed to leave your station (if done so, you are fired) even in my downtime. All was going great, until the Abbath concert.
As I was doing my job as the glorified waterboy, a pothead dude with dreadlocks under the stage badly needed to take a piss, so I was like sure dude, take your time, I got your back man. I wasn't officially working, but i put on the vest for the time being, while he was running down the hill to be as fast as possible. I do the usual scan of the people, to see if there are messed up guys who are going to start shit but everyone seemed pretty chill. Just as I was settling in music stops playing, people start shouting, i see metal horns in the air, so I was trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. Aaand then I see Abbath, the main fucking dude jump from the main stage charging up hill where I was replacing my rasta dude, with no security behind me. So my first instinct is FUCKYEAH METALHORNS WOOO and then OH FUCK I AM WORKING NONONONO. Dude is charging up like a fucking monster truck, as I am trying to figure out what the hell I am going to do. I positioned myself near the taped security line, but lucky for me, there were no diehard fans that would jump over the tape, so all i am doing is scanning for any running idiots that would make me loose my job. Lucky for me Abbath positioned himself behind me, and people thought I was security, so noone is rushing him like a fucking B in CSGO. FINALLY security arrives, I have my hands outstretched, Abbath does some handshaking and steals a hat from a chick while I am panicking on the inside. Security finally pushes the guys from the taped line as I am calming down, and then Abbath decides it's a great fucking idea to run downhill on a slippery grass. Dude crashed hard as fuck, fell over with all of his gear and guitar and fell pretty hard, security (again) rushing to pick him up while they cut the monitors in case he seriously fucked himself up. Dude stands up and shakes it off as it was nothing, while my coworker shows up with words "dude did i miss anything". I just passed the jacket back to him and went for shots cause i deserved them.
