Thanks for the tip, my shading is still a bit off in spots but getting better every day(alot of the shading also doesnt show in the pic). I got a bit bored of drawing simple fruit and wanted to try something a little more complex. I was only drawing lame 2D images a week ago.  ;)

Best thing you could do now is grab a cheap sketchbook and fill it! Don't worry too much about your shading, just watch your line quality and do some good studies.

Yes sir, go browse around the wacom store and pick up a bamboo entry model or an intuos if you're really interested. Bamboo works perfectly though, and is nice and cheap.
It's easy to pick up, especially since you have a background in traditional stuff!

Dog sketch is looking great, still think you could push the contrast more and hit the darks heavier! Especially around the mouth, and your line quality kind of varies (such as the tongue) Ever tried painting?

prob i will!, and it kind of varies cuz i want proportion of this dog

I bought some new tools early yesterday so Ive been having some fun with them. Mostly working on some facial features meantime, and majority of them turned up looking good. When I put them together she looks semi retarded but I noticed alot of my mistakes after doing this drawing. Still need to learn hair and practice more on everything else.

Yeah, its probably a bit wide(should have sized it more with the eyes) plus I drew the teeth too small, cut the gums too short. But live and learn..

It's great that you bought the stuff, it'l help alot. You already know theres alot of problems with the portrait above. Proportions and anatomy is all over the place. Go grab some references, and if you have the cash go grab an anatomy book. Go get a darker pencil, 4B-6B, and use it with your lighter ones. Take note of shading styles you like and emulate them. Most important thing is to pratice as much as possible, though.

Any questions post them here or pm me
