Not the best but its a different shape.

/e found out what made my spheres so hard on paper. i did the same exact thing as i did digi painting. i made the highlight run off which didnt give it that 3d look.

spheres are getting better, especially this one and the most recent


come back to this one and try to enclose the highlight like i said, so it doesnt trail off the sphere at all. The highlight shape should be a perfect circle with mid tone all around it

like this? i lost my other file so i had to recreate a new sphere. i feel like the reflective light is to bright.

yup, if you wanted to further refine it, make the highlight more circular (its oval right now), make sure your shadow shape is a defined oval, not whatever you got there, and the reflected light is too bright and too big, remember that the reflected light must be a little darker than your highlight. Think of the way the light is behaving, the highlight shows the point of the sphere closest to the light, its getting the most light. The reflected light is light that bounces off the ground plane, so it loses some of its intensity in that transition, its not actually very dark in reality, its just a little bit lighter than your core shadow. The reflected light would be closer to the mid tone
