no, people thought they were ready for a harder tutorial so we showed them what its like. sooner or later im going to make them start learning from PSDs and later just by looking at outcomes. This is still the easy stuff

also @ those who dont think black soft brushing is any good
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j100/AkatoshDive/hmm2.gif
i did like that whole sig in black soft brushing and 2 gradient maps
(granted, now me would have removed the bright edge on the right)

@ the page full of black doesnt/does exist....... wtf guys. if someone says black doesnt exist in nature they are trying to be smartasses, "oh man light n shit", ofc it fucking exists in nature. please dont load this thread with crap like that

You go ahead and use pure black in your paintings. It certainly doesn't bother me that your colours will be flat and dead.

Like I said, it probably won't apply to you guys and your tags. It's not being a smartass however, it's simply a plain basic principle.

Sponge?
I dont believe I have ever used this.

there is a sponge tool, rolled in with the dodge and burn tools, to increase/decrease saturation

i thought someone already got to this my bad.

so, compared to earlier the brightness is much better.
the text looks better now and the sharpness of the tag in v1 is nice

the pony tail is too obvious though, it needs to be blended better
im still not a huge fan of the blue sparkle effect here but it looks a little bit better compared to earlier i suppose
and for future reference you should always save tags as .png, its the best quality imo

but when you save them as a png how do you get the size down to 70 when you want it in ur sig.

you've completely missed the point

There is no pure black in this painting, or any of Vermeer's.

You don't care about the kb size?
Most people here care more about the quality of the product than the do about the rules

My v2.
I added another texture as final step but not sure if it was a good idea.

You have to learn how to paint with pure black. Wish i had the tut, author explained, and painted same image with and without it, and the one with pure black looked better 100%

Although that's a matter of opinion, author himself said it took him long time to learn it and put it in practice. Image in no way looked flat/boring or whatever. Check magic the gathering cards if you don't believe me,
there are many authors who used and are using pure black, and paintings look awesome. :)

My opinion from what i observed and learned so far.
