ur sketches seem very stiff and calculated, u should try doing a few pages of gesture drawing just to get the feeling of being dare i say it "loose"

This took aaaages and I am not happy with the mouth.
Kind of depressing that any skilled painter could sketch something similar in a matter of minutes.

Is he recognizable?

Quite like the outcome personally (of the bulb, the rest is filler to make it look substantial)
