Um, I understood the step, I was saying I didnt like it. Id much rather erase to blend, it makes more sense to me.

Clip mask it, that way you can make changes later on if needed. Don't want to notice a mistake when you're almost done and not be able to change it. They basially do the same thing, except Clipping doesn't destroy the render.

That's always recommended painting, certainly, but this is just a signature tutorial.

Wouldnt it be way harder? I dont really know personally, but everyone has a different painting style whereas anyone can follow a tag tutorial. Who knows though, start one :D.
