I feel like some people missed the point of this though, which is fine, but the fun for me was trying to use as many of the stock images as possible in fun ways

When thinking about the contest I viewed it more as getting people out of their comfort zone of just finding a nice render and using their stockpile of "HQ overused resources".
Also to get people to think more about resources beyond "c4d_resource1, splatterpattern33, render55_12546p" and how you can manipulate small pieces from just plain old pictures. I think 6 nailed it but I like how everyone went about it.
and like xan said it is worth it to just get people making again, I get bored of looking at the terrible posts and no content.
