if you're seriously interested in using a different theme, i highly suggest you ask questions here as you go along. some of the included instructions are less than helpful, and there one step that could easily "break" your computer if you do it wrong

I run appows nite 2, with rainmeter and win amp.

I love the backgrounds. I have the different shades of grey changing every hour.
Oh, and rocket dock.

love the look. i think all of appows looks better with a slim task bar - it's kind of impractical to use on a larger monitor though =/

i played around with a couple of themes last night and realized that a lot of them take away features like the address/search bar, folder options, or even the min/max buttons :( ended up going back to appows haze as it has pretty much everything in tact - but i did take the time to make a couple extra changes

changed most of the windows icons - but i still have to figure out what to do with my program icons

er...guess i didn't have to ss my entire desktop for that. oh well lol

I'm a computer science major. Just wanted a link to that specific theme. What kind of resource usage does skinning like this have?

lol alright. but if you accidentally put something in the wrong folder, know that you'll have to restore your os

afaik it's no different than a stock theme. to get permission to use them you need to either patch some .dlls or install uxstyle, which is a light service that runs in the background

does anyone know of a good icon swapping program, or a way to properly edit the .dlls that hold the windows icons? i had to use a couple programs to swap them...both were trial versions, and one of them expires after a month. tried unistalling to see what would happen, and the one that expires reverted everything back -.-

tried editing imageres.dll with resource hacker, but the edited icons reverted back once i put it in my system folder
