the person i quoted was wrong. in no way does transparent backgrounds effect the performance of the webhost/server this site is running on simply because all the website drawing and rendering is done clientside on your computer in your browser. all the server does is send html to its clients.
although i think what he truly meant is that transparent signatures suck and you should stop making them for the betterment of the GD section.
