in the first, in the middle path area, i feel that you killed it, and by this i mean you did to many layers on top of each other. try concentrating on where you are placing your colors/strokes so you can only do one wash or one simple stroke. this way it will look fresh and not get muddy or overworked
in the second it looks as though you were more free. the values kind of get off within atmospheric perspective, and that guy is a giant compared to that dwarf door
what techniques are you using? have you practiced different washes? different flooding techniques?
i see what you mean, this was for our summative and i wasn't allowed to use any references, so like everything's so off
as for techniques, i have no idea lol
i wasn't taught watercolour in class, i just thought i'd experiment so i'm like water + colour and slap it on
i did use a sponge to blend stuff out though. The rest was just made with brushes from the dollar store xD
