Example 1 Answers:

1) It's generic, i have no idea what its about, but i know its a bad logo design (as it was not properly planned)
2) It does not work in black and white the basic shape of the logo relys on a graident effect, this is fine for a web based enviroment, but when you translate this to a print evnviroment it needs to be able to be printed in black and white, and with the graident you lose this form.
3) The tracking of the subtext is too tight, and some text overlaps
4) The alignment of the text relitive to the graphic is weird as the objects do not relate to each other in which they should.

Reseach - What makes a good logo?

1) I want each of you to find a logo that is from a big brand (Nike, Fedex, etc.), find 5 things that make it powerful.
2) Likewise, i want you to find a logo from a small company (the flower shop down the road) that probably has a bad logo, find 5 things that make it weak.

Post up your findings

This is great practice at recognizing what elements in a logo make it strong and weak, you have to know whats good and bad to design great things right?

Next lesson i will go over the basic logo design process.

#1

FINDINGS - PROBLEMS
- There is two different text which is bad.
- Looks good in color but not in bw
- spacing is messed up on it.
#2

WHAT MAKES IT POWERFUL?
- The logo can be used in many different colors.
- Good for both web based and print.
- Text matches the logo with the bulky sharp look.
- Blends well when used in an image.

I can't find much of anything.

1) The brand I chose was Blackberry.

Things that make it powerful are;
1) It is approperate for the company.
2) It's simplistic and memorable.
3) It can be printed and scaled easily.
4) Can be printed in any color.
5) Will be effective for a long time.

2) The logo I chose was from a local nic-nacks shop.

Things that make it weak;
1) Difficult to read the text.
2) May need to be changed in time.
3) Overly complex.
4) Loses effectivness when printed in small size.
5) Does not effectivly represent the company.

- The logo is not to messy, its plain which makes it pleasefull to look at it.
- Its easy to use in print as in digital.
- Not expensive to use cause its one color.
- With out the name, you can still read it's that brand.
- There is a good center in the Logo.

- Used more then 2 fonts.
- To much in it which makes it messy.
- Instead of sticking to the name being the Logo, a extra figure was add (right side).
- There is no good center in the Logo.
- It doesn't makes you go back to the image, your eyes want to look away.
