Hey guys, I am wondering what you think about the weight ratio in a logo between the text and a pictogram. If you have a logo that consist of a text and a pictogram, should both be the same weight, or should one of them be thinner or thicker than the other?

Vote for either same weight for both (1) or different weight (2)

Voted same but really depends on the logo imo.

Agreed, but let's say for something pretty common, a circle pictogram with for example a stylized letter inside and a text on the side.

True.

In this guide they have logo examples, let's take these two

Would you rather see a typo of the exact same width next to them with the company name, or would you prefer something thinner or thicker?

It's aesthetically pleasing when a logo uses mono-weight for the icon and wordmark. That being said, your 'same weight' example isn't the same weight. The circle is very obviously thicker than the text.

Here's a good example of a mono-weight logo: http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/archives/new_logo_for_northern_trust.php#.Vw6hcnqQn-s

True, I did it really quickly so you can have an idea. Your example is much better, perfect example of a icon thinner than the text and an icon with the same weight as the text.
