I like it, I'd stay away from text and try not to center the render, and no border please
it's a nice sig though, cool for a first, much better than my early attempts
only thing I can recommend is tuts, but nice job m8

Appreciated to hear something like that from a good graphics artist.
I've checked a few tutorials, actually more like "How to use photoshop" and "Learn shortcut keys" etc.
I read a tutorial about colors when I made this Pikachu signature. In my opinion it was helpful and cool

I think he meant Signature Tutorials, more than general tutorials like that, to get more specific techniques down.
But of course, how to use photoshop and colors and such are the first step :).

I feel the background on it doesn't really fit. Besides the color scheme, it doesn't really add anything and seems rather random.

That's true. I was unsure of what kind of a background I should do, so I went with something "random".
