regarding this particular edit, it's natural for someone to instantly look at faces in an image, so i'm going to look at the face, then the smoke. her facial expression would probably make or break the picture's tone. if the model didn't want her face to be seen, then i'd apply the effect to it. also, the way the smoke is applied makes it look flat. i think her left leg could be partially affected and possibly have her right arm unaffected..at least towards the forearm/hand.
I actually thought about the same.. But to be honest - the only reason I cut of the models face is because ..... it's my mom, LOL - We had a photo session cause she needed it for some business-related stuff, so I thought it would be fun editing it..
But I get your point.. I can make another one where I've edited dots instead of smoke, so it actually looks like someone took a paintbrush and fucked it up :-D
