so I haven't worked with AI in ages and I just installed CS6.

I have a logo created in PS. real basic shape with a 3 color gradient on it and now I need to convert it into a pure Vector in AI (stupid guy forgot to mention he wanted an EPS file).

I can trace and everything fine but obviously if I do Image trace with colors it doesnt keep the shape nicely like the Black trace.

how can I apply the original gradient (radial and placed in a specific area) to Black trace?

create a mesh over the shape and place a coloron the central point of the mesh

google "illustrator gradient mesh tutorial"
