i got bored and re-"vamped" (oh the puns) my profile with this image and a quickie sig.

the sig needs more work, was just a quick chop and paste.

anyway lmk what you guys think, i plan to add to the background after i get some more brushes, i kind of rely on them , i don't have a tablet to draw with

here's the stock for the profile background so you can see what i actually did

ps, if anyone has the stock image from my avatar i'd like to know where to get it, i think originally i took it from google images a while back

cheers,
-Phuckina

people voting with no feedback

..SMH

c'mon guys

i know they are kind of plain-jane but gimme some feedback.

tbh, i could have cut out the image a little cleaner. anyone got a better method than quick selection + manual eraser.

i noticed stroking the stock image after cutting is useful tool to see cut quality, helped me a bit

any pro tips?

anyone have nicer engraved text results i can see?
i used the layer effects, pretty noob i know, but it think it looks decent, i could of just coppied layer, of-set and snipped, but it does the same. i was going to do that actually and texture the cuts but i like it better polished.
maybe ill go back and try to make it look more hand carved.

anyone better at the eye effect i was going for?
i'm going to play around with CD4's and glossy sphere stock images when i get a chance, anyone have a better method?

Use the pen tool for cutting out the background (process known as "rendering").

Skulls are not original in any way, and are horribly overdone.

You've used a stylised serif font on something demonic.

-ty ill try the pen for mask/cutting,

-overdone in what way?

font was best i had don't actually have any installed, i actually don't mind it not being demonic.
personal preferences aside though...

-got better results on engraving images with font/shapes or have tips?

These would be some more fitting fonts. http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=110

I'd look around there and get whatever fonts you like so that way you have more to choose from in the future.

ty,

if i change the font and you love the font then,

what else sticks out besides cut quality or could be improved and how?

do you recommend cutting with pen or masking with brushes?

Use the pen tool, you can create a vector mask with it.

ty,

the engraving execution, font aside, do you have a better method than the effects layer options

and the eyeballs i created, do they look clean or sloppily done

ok i spent the time and got some fonts that fit the "demonic" theme here,
not sure if it was right or wrong before, but this does look better to me now,

what else is sticking out?
