Hey there, like I stated I'm gonna start making sigs for fun, and hopefully fg down the road. I just took a intro to graphic design course, so have basic photoshop skills. Mind you I have not looked at a sig tut or anything like this. Each image in the pic I cropped out, made it's own layer, and compiled everything to be jsp ready (size rec and everything) Let me know what you think!! I don't really care for the glow effect on his name, was just playing around

tl/dr need c/c

pretty basic and a copy/paste job.

Look for some tutorials either here on jsp or deviantart and other graphic sites

Meh, there was a decent amount of work done than just copy and pasting images, but thanks for the input, I was more so going for a "clean" sig, I tend to think they look a little bit better than some of the ones on here that I see. Do you happen to have any guides that you would recommend on trying out?

Here is second attempt at a sig, sorta used a guide, but changed quite a bit of things.

Theres nothing really clean about it. There is no focal on this sig... its sort of all over the place. Everything is the same sharpness and the colors are not working

You have wood grain, then red, then black, alot of grey and then that outerglow color....

why the black n white side? Idk alot of the sig doesnt really make sense. You should look up composition and rule of thirds

Fair enough, the Black and white I wanted to change it up a bit, do something different I guess. I'll look up on that composition and rule of thirds though today, I really don't know much about theory and concept of art, as stated before I just started my classes a little bit ago :)

Any thoughts on my second sig?

that text is just bad :S Get rid of that text. Typography is a very difficult thing to master... You can probably find multiple tuts on that.... I would also try to get your hands on the book " Color - a workshop approach " if you are serious about design and any art making.

The husky is way too far to the right. He also doesnt blend at all, looks like he was just cut and pasted on there and has a light white over him....

the composition doesnt make sense on this one. Text in the middle, Husky far far right, white orbs on top. Theres no real focal either on this besides the pasted husky that just stands out

Theres no sense of light and flow, your eye just strains to find a spot to rest.

tutorials man. I want you to find a tutorial and do a full sig following that tut. do not use the exact same render and that but follow the steps and tools/techniques used.

Id say its better, but looks random.
Drop shadow rarely works and you should do without typo for the time being.

Read lotsa tuts and learn diffrent techniques and tools is the best advice I can give you for the time being.

Thanks, this seems to be the response I am getting as far as typo and doing tut's. Glad you think it's better than other two

theres numerous different styles of sigs, try finding one of your liking. also look at good tags on here, deviant art, and tagfreak. Learn from them and figure out why they are considered good.

you need some sort of plan on your sigs :P not always but starting out it usually helps. Color scheme, composition, etc etc
