Should I compare imperial roman art to modern art? The problem is this class is from prehistoric european art , up to 1400 china.... So we dont go over any modern practice..

i'm not sure it's asking for a comparison, but a description of a central feature similar to contemporary western practice. then he wants you to describe another cultures distinct style that differs from western practice.
