That's my first attempt pretty much to use the smudge tool in a tag, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or what needs to be done different etc., maybe a few useful techniques, I don't know, I like smudge and I want to get better with it, not sure if this one is good or garbage

Also keep in mind this is just the beginning I'm not sure if I'm doing it right though

Tutorials don't help with shit when it comes to smudging. In the end it's all about practice.

This. You can watch the tuts for basic beginning information, but the only thing that's going to give you your own style and give you any sense of improvement is practice.

Have at it man!

I've been getting into smudging lately myself. (not being able to has held me back for awhile)

All I can tell so far though is that you don't put enough time into them, lol.

I've tried that tut like 10 times, can't even get the first step to look good, although a friend told me better smudge settings than what I was originally using so I might as well try it again

Download some .PSD files of smudge tags that is the best way to learn to do it besides practice.

KYU at planetrenders is really good at smudge try and find his PSD pack if it is still there under free resources > psds
