D2 was, and still is the best ARPG because of itemization. No other game has its item diversity. However, when bots claim the realms then even 1:1mil drops become next to worthless, like bers. 15 or less fg for the best rune in the game.

Bots may have kept the game going, but it made it next to impossible for regular people to actually play the game. That's not how you create a thriving community of people who actually enjoy playing the game.

Yeah, when there are 1000's maybe 10's of thousand of bots running, yes, it is. Because when i find one of the rarest items in the game, it is worthless because there are millions of them. Why would i want to aspire to nothing?

Exactly, nobody wanted to kill monsters forever so we didn't.
Besides there is always cheap pk builds and in game trading with self found items for pvp chars and there is often games where people just play how they want so do you even have a point?

My point is that if the game is 95% about botting, then the general community will never grow beyond just a shell, and it will be discouraging to any newcomers.

What you are saying is equivalent to arguing that auto aim and wall hacks are good for shooters. No, that is what kills the game and all that is left are the hackers.

All of those special seasonal communities would still exist weather or not there were botters, so that is a moot point. Moreover, those communities would be bigger if the game was more accessible to people who don't want to cheat to enjoy the game.



I'm not even talking about the 1:1trillion drops. I'm talking about the 1:1million drop, like a ber. If reasonably aspirational content is worthless, new people won't play the game.
