These barbs would slam hlders and 59 smiters too, you prebuffed your defense in the third screenshot anyway. Seriously, this isn't even a real dueling level and you're trying to compare to 49's who have obviously superior builds. Your reasoning is so flawed, damage isn't everything and even if it was they would surely hit more often than you.
