it indeed, does not make sense
because a melee league without banned items is just pure coin flipping. if everyone is running grief, the same charms, the same helms, the same maxed out amount of DR%, etc then you're all just meeting up in game to do coin flips. or its cheesy builds using a bunch of ele dmg to beat chars with low res.
im not a GM melee player, but it at least takes some time/fg to collect items and some planning to make builds.
