The trophy room is for characters and items that are good compared to everything and everyone else. Theres nothing exceptional about someone who builds an objectively bad, underpowered build with suboptimal choices and mediocre items.
If I wanted I could be a special snowflake by building a 354% ed rare gorgon crossbow zon who uses cold arrow as her primary attack for pvp. And it would be a shit character and no trophy on every level, because gorgon crossbows are shit, rares are shit, cold arrow is shit and 354% ed is not a trophy

You have to consciously reject using grief/beast with almost zero opportunity cost to make a non-hybrid. If you made a pure throwbarb with no WW emphasis at all, all it takes to get a perfectly competent WW is to slap grief/beast on swap with 1 point whirlwind and 1 point axe mastery. And since this makes you infinitely better in all matchups, theres no reason not to do it. Versus what, BO sticks? It would be like saying "I'm making a hydra sorc but refuse to cast fireball in duels because I didn't want to make a boring fire sorc". Its 2016, even pure hammerdins have a grief in their stash and bow or lightning or poison java hurl high physical damage lightning fury as a secondary.
