It's not a disease, per se, but depending on the severity, can indeed be considered a mental disorder, for it would have to interfere directly with your life, and in a negative manner.

Ironically, narcissists, whether diagnosed with the disorder itself or not, are often completely unaware of such. Many more who do recognize this, however, often will deny, to no end, the fact that they are a narcissist.

-

Narcissism, noun: 1. Inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity.

2. Psychoanalysis. Erotic gratification derived from admiration of one's own physical or mental attributes, being a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development.

Cognitive dissonance, noun, Psychology: 1. Anxiety that results from simultaneously holding contradictory or otherwise incompatible attitudes, beliefs, or the like, as when one likes a person but disapproves strongly of one of his or her habits.

-

I myself can't deny the fact that I actually find it mildly humorous to expose narcissistic Jsp users, especially in the TR, and to watch them squirm with denial. Yes, I'm a sadist. Can't help it. To deny such a thing to oneself is to deny the very thing that makes us human, narcissists included. Everyone included, period.

We all have what could be considered narcissistic personality traits, but how many and to what extent is what separates people who don't, and do suffer from narcissism, be it the actual disorder itself or not.

Another fun fact is that a great deal of wealthy people, worldwide, are narcissists, especially bankers and people considered "white collar".

Tl;dr - Go back up read. Also, if you do, I think you would benefit from pushing through the ensuing cognitive dissonance that's known to bring such a blinding state of denial.

It is with this I wish you a good day.
