Soo..
Let me get this straight
There is a game, which does not give a single fuck about players killing players, none
There are a few item in the game which are the best in hand for melee
There is a very small community, who still wants to play pvp
And by itself decides that the before mentions weapons are too powerful, so "ban" them
And they are jumping around an item which is like half as good as the "banned" ones, because in their on belief it's "allowed"
Yeah and in reality WTCC is so much more interesting than formula one yeah..
No offense, this sounds dumb. Because pvp isn't technically supported in-game (there's no special PvP-designed zones or battlegrounds like there is in WoW or D4), the various PvP communities decide the rules instead. If the gm melee community decides Grief is banned, then it is, and it's completely removed from the equation. I always thought the rare weapon vs. Grief debate was dumb for this reason personally. Grief was banned very close to when it was released as a runeword in LoD and there have been no objections/controversies about this -- literally no one in melee gives a damn about Grief, it's literally never discussed, and no one even has a desire to use it because of how overpowered it is (the non-melee community, like ppl posting here, seem to care far more about Grief than any of us in melee). It's banned in literally every single country and gm melee league on LoD and D2R now for 10+ years. I don't personally see the problem with this, but you're making it sound like a dumb unofficial rule that was kind of decided on a whim or something.
Just fyi, there are far more rules in LLD duels, fpk duels, etc., than there are in gm melee that require much more attention/consideration/care while PvPing than our Grief ban in melee... you are right that Blizz does not care about PvP, but PvP communities still exist so they must decide for themselves what is fair and balanced (Grief is antithetical to fair/well-balanced duels), and this usually works because it is done by community votes or with community input, this is how giant rulesets (see just a snippet of LLD rules here) get created and are universally followed

In other words tl;dr let people play D2R/LoD how they want to play it, if gm melee community enjoys their duels without Grief for 10+ years then let them do so, if LLD community wants to play with all the rules listed in the above pic, let them do so, and so on for ever PvP community, there's no need for flaming.

the amount of misinformation/general stupidity in this thread is astounding, there is no way I could even comment here
