Just like there are idiots that wanted to buy this, there are idiots that buy what they consider collectors items.
The best way to explain why this is a useless argument is the following:
You are walking on the side of the road. You have a rock in your hand. You are throwing it up in the air and catching it. You rinse and repeat this in a crowd of 1000 people. One person you walk by says “hey that’s a big diamond you have. I would like to buy it from you”. You say ok I’ll sell it to you for $1000. The person says “Sold. That’s a great deal”.
Just because you convinced one person your rock was a diamond. Doesn’t make all rocks worth $1000.
