No not really. kinda similar as there are other skills like wood cutting and mining but apart from that i havnt found any similarities.

Runescape is more of a skilling game, RoM is more of a combat game.
RoM has alot of combat things like instances and such. Runescape rlly only has a few like GwD
RoM skilling doesnt even compare to runescapes skilling but runescapes combat doesnt even compare w/ RoM's combat.

From what I have played of Runescape, RoM is more battle/seige based (Guild Vs Guild PvP) RoM is more of a fighting game than anything, and has a lot more to offer in terms of lvling, gearing, skilling imo. It's more of a challenge to me than runescape was. Because RoM u have to get geared for different instances, seige wars, crafting (Optional) And many other things

RoM is very similar to WoW rather than runescape.

As mentioned:

RS - Skills, grinding, one specific gear, can't make it better, game is based around money

RoM - Fighting, quests, instances, gear is modified, always able to get a little bit better.

I enjoy RoM much better, less downtime. But for a game after a night out, RS is what I pick, nice and laid back
