Hey, I am thinking of getting into ROM however I was just wondering if the RMT item shop is necessary in order to complete certain quests? for example in jade dynasty in order to increase ur bag space u need to buy stuff at the item shop, is there anything like that in this game?

its needed to do anything endgame. you can buy item shop stuff from other players, but getting that much gold is time consuming.

log into runes of magic website, click recharge diamonds -> fill out surveys -> reach the end of the surveys -> get diamonds free.


when doing surveys, just hit PAGE END on your keyboard and hit "skip"
most of the surveys can be done that way. Some require you to purchase things, skip those.

if u want pvp US, go on grimdal.

if u want pvm... your choice, i suggest a not so populated server though. people stealing your mobs suck, and thats where pvp comes in handy.

without using item shop items, you wont have enough life/stats to be useful in the top instances.

you can play until you reach a high level without it, dont take this the wrong way and think its needed to play the game at all.

/edit: you use the item shop fusion stones to get all good stats on a piece of gear, youll learn about it after you play some. there are fusion stones from merchants, but you cant have the top stats if you use those, they will be mixed high/medium stats. you can go without the item shop ones for a long time, but when you get to the high instances its required to be strong enough

/edit2: theres also other items, such as upgrading jewels, required for the high stuff, extra bonuses. not required to do quests, but helps and is needed for endgame. by endgame i mean level 55-60 instances. from level 52 up, you can probably do quests and such without all the fancy stuff, and can probably get by without so much use of the item shop

To be honest, once you find a guild that will help you build up gear, it just takes time and small amounts of gold (compared to doing it alone, that is) honestly... instead of taking 3weeks to get geared fully by buying diamonds, it might have 3 or 4 months... but it is possible to do without spending any $$. Also if you want, I'm on Osha so you can come here if you're looking for PvE While my guild is no longer accepting applicants, I can find you a guild that will take you just PM me for my in game name if you're interested.

you dont need item shopping for anything until end game. you can make your items yourself and hit 7k hp easy by lvl 40, which is enough to solo. after lvl 55, you will start buying item shop items though.
