MMOhut rated it number 1 mmo and the game looks pretty good... what do you guys say?
Runes of Magic is an excellent mmorpg which SEVERAL different features which WoW does not have, for example, Dual-Class system(which i assure you is why many people play this mmo), Arcane Transmutor, which allows for customizable gears, etc. The leveling itself is not bad because for the most part it is actually a grindfest, but one thing to keep in mind that it WILL ALWAYS be a grindfest for your end-game gear.

Better than WoW?
some may say it's better than WoW, others say that it's a WoW immitation. i have not play retail WoW so i cannot give comparison between the two, although i have played on private servers of WoW and it does have a similar feeling.

Is the game overloaded with hackers and/or botters?
EXPECT hackers and botters, botters, somewhat, are basically the backbone to the economy in this game... they farm quests item which are then sold on the auction house at a lower price

How often do they update?
they have normal server maintenance every tuesday morning, and i'm still fairly new to this game but i have seen a lot of updates/events which corresponds to the upcoming holidays etc.

How often do they update? Is there a p2p version of the game, similar to how runescape used to be (think you could like pay monthly for some benefits i seem to remember)? Any downsides to the game?
Runes of Magic, like many other games, offer a cash shop available to those who are willing to spend money to play the game. these cash shop normally give players a big boost as well as another way to make gold(game currency). Keep in mind that this game is filled with people who work, so expect them to be on during primetime and such.
