to kill some time I'm bored, randomly chose a game off the "other games" tab on jsp

looking for advice on what server I should pick, what I need to know starting out, and things that might help me not fuck up royally if there is no room for error.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a freebee WoW clone, some things look very similar, but when I played WoW before WOTLK ruined the game I focused primarily on PvP and was also in a top 50 US Raid guild...Merciless Vengeful Brutal gladiator warlock with a gladiator rogue paladin and druid floating around on various servers as well.

Let me know, not sure if I'm going to get too into this game but it looks like a good time killer, I tried playing diablo2 again and that lasted about 7 minutes before I broke the disk and swore never to play it again.

first off, this game does not have good pvp. there are pvp servers that are underpopulated, and pvp just isnt balanced in the game. there are guild vs guild battles once a night called siege wars, but it is buggy and not too class balanced.

as to a "freebie wow clone", ya it has alot of aspects similar to Wow. i think its really similar. but when they say "free to play", thats about all there is to it. its free to play, but if you actually want to be good you will have to spend a lot of money or a lottttt of time earning gold to buy stuff from other players that spend lots of money.

k lets say thats all fine to you. there are about 4 us servers that are good to choose from. you will want to pick a pve server even if you like pvp. thats just how bad pvp servers are. people might say they like their pvp server but its not a wise choise to join one. Artemis seems to have the highest population. Osha, Govinda (i think), and Reni are also good servers to pick. Palenque is a us/spanish pve server but i hear the gm's and some system messages are in spanish.

As to starting out, the best thing to do first is find a class that suits your style. knights are the best tanks. rogue or warrior are physical melee dps. scout is ranged physical dps. mage is caster dps. priests have the highest heals, with druids having heal-over-time spells that are good endgame but a little tricky getting up to that point. wardens need to be fixed and everyone makes fun of them. there is dual-classing in this game but your primary class is what makes your role in groups. your secondary class adds skills to you and you can look up what skills you can learn for each combination. after picking your class, its good to find a nice guild that can help you out if you need it, which shouldnt be too hard. then just do quests and learn as you go.

its a fun game, time consuming if you want it to be, and it takes quite a bit of money to have great endgame gear. but its fun to play and fun to be in a group of 12 people clearing high level areas.

k im done, i typed more than i thought i would

im probably going to make a rogue/knight after reading over various forums. seems like they have the most uses

really not sure what to expect at early levels in this game, im wondering more about how i should be leveling since you can only level one of your classes at a time, how do i keep the xp gain even? do quests not give xp? or do i just do a trade off between the classes? also how fast is leveling in this game? is it as tedious as wow? also need to know basic items if i should bother buying items for my char at low levels or just use the crap i find questing?

yeah rogue/knights are good. they have good damage and have high defense from the knight secondary, which is good since they go in close to fight.

easiest way to level is to do quests. grinding mobs gives very little xp. early on its easy to buy items out of the auction house, they should be pretty cheap and affordable with just the gold you get from completing quests.

i see. and when should i be trying to gear my character for instances if these even exist in this game? are there wow style instance/raid groups early or late game that people do to get gear/reputation/etc?

also if im going a rogue/knight are there certain professions i should be leveling at an early level or can one hero level every profession? if i remember wow you could have 2 professions and any secondary profession like fishing cooking etc

doubt im going to get very into this game, i just chose a random server not even sure which one, Its an english PvE though. From what it looks like and from what people who play have been telling me is the pvp isn't much like the old WoW pvp scene which I expected

the time it takes to invest in a game like this to get sufficient gear and grasp all the different concepts would take a long time even if the game is a wow clone it's still very different.

So basically I'm level 12 in whatever the city is called you're supposed to go to at level 10, I got my secondary class that I'm sure is going to be a pain in the balls to level, but w/e it just killed a few hours for me so its a win for me either way

edit: is there a site similar or the wow equiv to a thottbot or site that tells you exactly what to do and where to go for quests? I'm really fucking lazy and if not theres no way I'm going to be playing this game. Nothing worse then actually having to read and think in a game like this.
